Highlights are light accents in your hair. They are applied using the foil technique. You can decide how many strands you want and how thick they should be. In principle, you can use a different colour for each foil, giving you many different shades. The advantage of highlights compared to coupe Soleil is that you can do this again the next time you want to highlight the same hairpiece. Another advantage of highlights is getting closer to the roots so that outgrowth is less likely.
