Hair extensions | Everything you need to know before you try them.

Hair extensions are a game-changer if you are looking for a change of look. Whether you wish to have more volume, longer length of just a different hairstyle, all is possible at Project Cosmetology!

Which hair extensions do we work with?
Our hairstylist has tried and tested many different extension methods over the years to find what truly works best for our clients. The one type that stood out the most, are semi-permanent
tape- in hair extensions.

This technique consists of thin strips of hair with a special medical-grade adhesive tape at the top. The hairstylist places a small section of your own hair in between the tape strips, securing them close to your scalp.

This results in a beautiful blended, almost invisible pair of extensions, even in fine hair! We choose the color so carefully, it looks exactly like your own hair. The more natural, the better!  And this is why we love it.

What about the maintenance?
Around every 6 to 8 weeks it is time to book an infill. Your extensions will move down with your growing hair. In order to keep the fresh and seamless look we have to remove the extensions, clean old adhesive residue from your hair, place new tape on the extensions and reapply the same way as before.

The better you take care of your extensions, the better they look, the longer they will last.

  • Use a safe shampoo recommended by your hairstylist
  • Avoid applying oils or conditioner near the tape
  • Gently brush your hair
  • Don’t sleep with wet hair
  • Tie your hair in a loose braid or ponytail before bed

Typically, the extensions last up to 6-8 weeks. If you take good care of them, they can be reused up to 3 or even 4 times!

Why you should or not should choose Tape-in extensions
Tape-in extensions are in our belief one of the best techniques in order to achieve a beautiful, seamless and natural look. But there are some things that make you a better candidate:

  • People with fine to medium hair
  • Anyone looking to add volume or length
  • Clients who want a natural and lightweight feel
  • Those who prefer a low-maintenance, semi-permanent option

This technique might not be suitable for you, if you:

  • Want extensions that you can remove daily (clips-ins)
  • Plan to swim or sweat heavily everyday

Now you know more about this wonderful technique of the most natural hair extensions, you are ready to take the next step!
